This field day explores the different ways to acquire bees, including packages, nucs, complete hives, and swarms. Participants will gain hands-on experience installing a nuc or package of bees into a hive and learn the basics of early colony setup. This session also includes ERC’s Sustainable Apiary Model (SAM), teaching beekeepers how to become their own bee breeders and reduce the need to purchase bees in the future.
