On September 30th, we are opening our gates for Roots to Resilience — a free, open gathering to listen and reflect together for the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.
We'll come together to listen, learn, and explore what reconciliation can look like in our community, guided by Indigenous voices and Knowledge Keepers:
Plant Medicine Teachings with Faith Zacherle-Tonasket (sn̓ʕay̓ckstx, sn̓pʕaw̓ilx and suknaqínx), Indigenous birth worker, plant medicine teacher, and Executive Director of Xaʔxaʔ Indigenous Birth Justice, based on the Colville Indian Reservation
The Spirit Canoe Exhibit with Dr. Shawn Brigman (Sp̓oq̓ínš, Snʕáyckst, Ql̓ispé, and Tk̓emlúps te Secwépemc) from Spokane-based SALISHAN STURGEON NOSE CANOES (est. 2013) will share the meaning and sculpting of his canoes.
Pot Luck Lunch You are invited to bring a dish to share, we will provide offerings from the ERC Farm, snacks, and refreshments. (to reduce waste consider bringing a plate, cutlery and water bottle)
Native Plants and Seed Gifts Local ecotype plant seeds gifts from the ERC nursery — an offering for you from us, to give back to the land.
This day is hosted by local ERC volunteer Olivia Belaney, of Anishinaabe Temagami First Nation and your ERC community team, and is open to all who come with open hearts, kindness, respect for others, and a willingness to listen and learn together.
